Do you have someone in you life who is obsessed with unicorns?
My daughter is definitely one of those unicorn OBSESSED kids. Whether it’s sheets, notebooks, clothes, pencils, you name it, and she has one with a unicorn on it. She has been asking me for quite a while to make her a unicorn pillow and I finally had a chance to sit down and design one for her. Let me introduce you to the “Enchanted Dreams” Unicorn Pillow Cover.
If you also have someone who is obsessed with unicorns, keep reading below to see how you can make them their own unicorn pillow for nights full of enchanted dreams.

ABOUT THE PATTERN
The front of the pillow features a cute, winged unicorn design with twisted horns and the back is a solid color.
The pillow features a button closure for easy removal.
The pattern is for a 17″ x 17″ pillow cover that fits an 18″ x 18″ pillow form.
How the cover fits will depend on your individual pillow form. I have many different forms that say they are supposed to be 18″ x 18″, but I’ve found they rarely are. It will also depend on how stuffed your pillow form is. I have down forms that are extra fluffy and some cheaper ones that are on the thinner side. The pattern includes notes if you are using a fluffier pillow form.
The pattern is written in US crochet terms
WHAT STITCH IS THIS MADE WITH?
The front cover is made using the bobble stitch. The stitch has a fabulous nubby texture and while it can be yarn eater, you can’t argue with the wonderful texture it gives. The stitch is super simple to make, as it is made with double and single crochets. If you have never worked with the bobble stitch before, I have a bobble stitch tutorial to teach you how. The back cover and inner button placard are made with simple half-double crochets.

PILLOW COVER vs. REGULAR PILLOW
The main advantage of a pillow cover is…CLEANING! You can easily pop the cover off and either hand wash [preferable] or throw it in the washing machine. If you choose to put it in the washing machine I would suggest putting it inside a knotted pillowcase first to reduce pilling. For drying, lay flat to dry. If you have kiddos, we all know how little sticky fingers seem to touch everything, so being able to easily clean the cover is a real bonus!
Another advantage of a pillow cover is that it reduces the number of pillows you have laying around. If you’re like me, you switch out your pillows for the holidays and that can amount to having a lot of pillows to store. With a cover you can use the same pillow insert and switch out the cover easily. It’s also a great way to use a pillow that you no longer like (gotta love a recycle/reuse moment), throw a cover on it and voile you’ve got yourself a new pillow!
